Ocean Shores Antique & Collectible Show
Over 80 Booths of Antiques & Vintage Collectibles
Date: Feb 13-14, 2010
Place: Ocean Shores Convention Center
The 8th Annual Ocean Shores Antique & Collectible Show will take place February 13th and 14th, 2010 at the Ocean Shores Convention Center. Show hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is a $2.00 donation to local charities and nonprofits. Over eighty vendors will offer a wide variety of antiques including dolls, glass, furniture, American Art pottery, vintage baseball cards, postcards, and much, much more. Hourly Door Prizes. Available on site will be food booths and Roy's Glass and Crystal Repair Service.
Again this year, experts will be on hand to identify and evaluate your treasures. They include Randy and Debbie Coe, authors of "Elegant Glass; Early Depression & Beyond", Grays Harbor's own Mike Gyde; and Phyllis Courtney. Evaluations are $2.00 per item and are restricted to items that you can carry. Please no fine art or gem stones. The evaluations this year are sponsored by the Shilo Inns and the Hospitality Associates of Ocean Shores. All proceeds from the evaluations will be going to local nonprofit organizations.
The show's sponsor ACT (Action Committee for Tourism), a non-profit organization, has put together another quality antique show in Ocean Shores. This year's show comes on Valentines Day weekend. ACT is inviting everyone to enjoy us at the beach. We are also encouraging early reservations if you are planning to spend the weekend. The attraction of this popular Antique Show combined with Valentine's Day will most certainly encourage a wonderful get-away. So book early.

Flag Day Parade & Dance at Ocean Shores
Honor Old Glory
Date: June 12, 2010
Place: Ocean Shores, WA
Spend a fun-filled day in Ocean Shores. Saturday morning, June 12th at 11:00 a.m., watch over 50 floats and entries honoring Old Glory in one of the only Flag Day Parades in Western Washington. This year's grand marshal is yet to be announced. Participating in the parade will be floats and marching bands from Ocean Shores and neighboring communities. Details of the parade will be added to this site as information becomes available.
Saturday evening attend the Flag Day Dance, "Stars & Stripes", at the Ocean Shores Shilo Inn. Dinner at 6 p.m. / Dancing from 7 to midnight. Dance to live music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. A highlight of this year's dance will be a raffle featuring fabulous prizes donated by local businesses.
The raffle drawings will be held during intermission. You must be present to win. No Host Bar. Veterans are encouraged to come in uniform. Tickets: Dinner $10 / Dance $10 Available at the Ocean Shores Visitor Information Center, Chamber of Commerce, or at the dance.
The Flag Day Parade is sponsored by the Ocean Shores Chamber of Commerce and the Flag Day Dance is sponsored by ACT (Action Committee for Tourism).

The Five Star Dealerships Sand & Sawdust Festival
Sand Sculptors and Chainsaw Carvers Compete
Date: June 25-27, 2010
Place: Ocean Shores Convention Center & on the beach
Castles! Mermaids! Pelicans! Bears! The fun starts Friday, June 25th and runs through Sunday, June, 27th. Admission is free.
Come to the beach to watch Master, Intermediate, and Novice Sand Sculpting teams compete for over $5,000.00 in cash prizes. JOIN IN!!! Register a team of your family and friends in the Family Division and vie for hundreds of dollars in gift certificates and merchandise donated by the business community of Ocean Shores. Registration is noon to 6 p.m. Friday, June 25th at the Ocean Shores Convention Center. Free sand sculpting lessons will be held Friday, on the beach from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. All sand competition takes place Saturday, June 26th, beginning with check-in and plot assignment from 7 to 9 a.m. Construction begins at 9 a.m. and culminates with the Judging at 3 p.m. and the Awards Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Watch the demonstration sand sculpture take shape at the Convention Center beginning Tuesday, June 22nd.
Meanwhile, at the Ocean Shores Convention Center, Master Chainsaw Carvers from Europe, Japan, Australia, and throughout the United States compete for thousands of dollars in prizes. Competition takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Awards Ceremony will be on Sunday at 4 p.m. Internationally known auctioneer, Boaz Backus will conduct Auctions at the end of each day’s competition. Here is your chance to take home a piece of original art.
Additional activities at the Convention Center include 100 Food and Craft Vendors. There will be raffles with the drawings taking place during the Sunday afternoon auction. Raffle tickets and shirts will be available at the Visitor Information Center beginning June 1st.
The Five Star Dealerships Sand & Sawdust Festival is presented by ACT – Action Committee for Tourism, a local volunteer organization.

7th Annual Ocean Shores Independence Day Picnic
Fun and activities for all ages

Place: North Bay Park, Ocean Shores, WA
The business community of Ocean Shores is sponsoring the 7th annual Ocean Shores Independence Day Picnic on Saturday, July 3, 2009 at North Bay Park. Picnic Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free!!
Come celebrate the birth of our nation. Bring a blanket and your picnic basket or take advantage of the many food vendors that will be on hand. There will be something fun for all ages at this gala event.
- Ride the Smokey Mountain Railroad,
- Slide down the Tot-Tanic Slide,
- Embark on the Undersea Adventure obstacle course,
- Challenge your friends on the Bungee Run,
- Try your skill at Bouncy Boxing,
- Join the super heroes on the Forces of Fun,

- Challenge the Mutiny Pirate Ship with climbing, sliding and bouncing areas.
- Hear numerous local artists perform on the grandstand.

Paddle the Shores
Rowing & Paddling Activities on our Lakes and Canals
Date: September 18-19, 2010
Place: Ocean Shores, WA
All activities will take place at North Bay Park. Attention paddling & rowing enthusiasts. All human-powered water craft invited. ACT is planning a fun-filled weekend on the water. For directions to North Bay Park, see See MAP.
In addition to the popular Poker Paddle, activities will include a human-powered boat race, a cardboard boat race, speakers, vendors, boat try-outs, skills demonstrations and a picnic. New this year will be a Stand Up Paddleboard Race and a series called "Wacky Races". Come join the fun!
DAILY
- Boat Try-Outs - 9 AM to 4 PM. North Bay Park.
- EQUIPMENT SALES - 9 AM to 5 PM. Displaying the latest in boats, paddling equipment and accessories at END OF SEASON PRICES.
SATURDAY
- Boat Race Registration - 8 AM to 10 AM. North Bay Park.
- Pre-Race Meeting - 9:30 AM. North Bay Park.
- HUMAN-POWERED BOAT RACE - Class 1 - 10 AM. Duck Lake. Kayaks, Canoes, Shells and Paddleboats. All divisions invited and awards in each division. Life jackets, whistles, and basic boating skills required. Start / Finish: North Bay Park
- Awards Presentation - At the Picnic. North Bay Park.
- Seminar - 1 PM. TBA
- Demos - 2 PM. TBA

SUNDAY
- Poker Paddle Registration - 8 AM to 9 AM. North Bay Park.
- Pre-Paddle Meeting - 8:30 AM. North Bay Park.
- POKER PADDLE - 9 AM. Duck Lake. Leisurely paddle the interconnecting lakes and canals of Ocean Shores, picking up playing cards at each of the seven stops along the way. The stops are 1 to 2 miles apart. At the end of the 9-mile event, prizes will be awarded for the best poker hands. NOTE: For those seeking a shorter course, there is an alternate, 6-mile route that results in picking up a five-card poker hand.Start / Finish: North Bay Park
- CARDBOARD BOAT RACE - 12 Noon. Duck Lake. Boat construction begins a noon. Teams have one hour to construct a boat using only cardboard and packaging tape. The race will take place at approx. 1 PM. One team member will attempt to paddle the newly constructed boat around a buoy. The first team back, or the one that stays afloat the farthest will be declared the winner. Great spectator sport. Teams are sponsored, so call 360-580-8875 for information.
Start / Finish: North Bay Park
- Picnic & Awards Presentation - 2:00 PM North Bay Park after the Cardboard Race. All participants and volunteers invited.
If you do not own a kayak, rentals for the event can be arranged through Scappoose Bay Kayaking at 1-877-272-3353. Contact by Sept. 17th.
Several hotels/motels have put together packages with special rates for Paddle the Shores weekend, be sure to mention that you are a participant.
